Chair, Treasurer & Board Member

Board Appointments

Proud to be at the vanguard of the Community Land Trust (CLT) movement and supportive of their peers. London CLT’s ambition is to drive innovation and positively influence and impact the housing sector in London and beyond, through an approach that empowers and supports communities to create permanently affordable homes and transform their neighbourhoods.

They are community and member-led. They believe that local people should lead as decision-makers in housing developments. They work tirelessly and effectively with their members and local people to develop homes that stop Londoners from being priced out of their neighbourhoods, with their campaigns led by their members and residents having representation on their board.

“Professional, amenable, calm, and courteous. Philip successfully guided us through the recruitment process, drafting the role descriptions and candidate packs, delivering high-quality shortlists, and effectively managing the interview and selection process, all within the agreed timeline.”

— Oliver Bullied, Executive Director

With the recent appointment of a new Executive Director, 2022 was set to witness a period of significant change for the Board with both their Chair, Dave Smith, who founded London CLT, and their long-serving Treasurer stepping down.

Both hard acts to follow, at a pivotal time for London CLT, as the organisation prepared for a significant scaling up in activity, having successfully delivered their first and with several other projects under development and with the potential to do so much more.

Expectations were rightly high, with their new Chair and Treasurer expected to embrace this unique and pivotal opportunity these roles represent to help London CLT grow, building on solid foundations and helping to lift their sights towards a stronger and positive future.

Enthusiastic advocates for affordable housing, with the ability to represent London CLT at a senior level. These two new Board members will be expected to bring the necessary skills, expertise and attributes to deliver on their individual briefs, help articulate their vision and provide a clear strategic drive, help focus the efforts of their busy and enthusiastic team, share their ethos and passion for community-led initiatives; and work in a collaborative and inclusive manner.

The search resulted in the appointment of a Chair, Treasurer and an additional Board Member who had initially been identified through the search to appoint an Interim Executive Director.
