Appointment of their first paid member of staff and Director.

“Remember My Baby decided to take a considerable step forward and employ our first Director, engaging The Hiring Department to support us in this process. From the initial appointment to the final offer, Philip was consistently responsive, professional, and patient. The Trustees felt that Philip genuinely cared about the charity and our ambition and wanted to do the best for us, going that extra mile, and ensuring that at all times we felt supported.”

Nicky Heppenstall, Co-founder & Chair

Philip was supportive but also conscious of the need to provide us with the space to grow into a place where we were more confident in appointing our first employee. We couldn’t have managed this process without him.”

Remember My Baby is a UK-based registered charity that offers a gift of baby remembrance photography to UK parents experiencing the loss of their baby before, during, or shortly after birth.

Founded in December 2014 by parents with lived experience and an acute understanding of the loss felt by parents and of the need to create positive memories in the most challenging circumstance that no parent should have to witness, they had been volunteer-led in the great tradition of the charitable sector.

But now, in 2022, with the key pillars and foundation for future success in place, they had as a Board taken the bold decision to employ their first paid member of staff, with the ambition ultimately to have baby remembrance photography offered as a choice to all parents facing the loss of their baby, in every hospital and birth centre across the UK.

Tasked with achieving this ambition and demonstrating a passion and empathy for their sensitive and timely intervention, their first paid member of staff will be expected to grasp the opportunity provided to employ staff to expand and develop the charity across all four home nations. They will bring experience of having served in a leadership, supervisory, or management role with a proven track record of leading teams and achieving results, successfully working with Trustees, Ambassadors, and Volunteers to grow and make it more sustainable, increasing both its reach and impact.

They will possess a good understanding of governance, have the requisite skills and expertise to build robust and sustainable processes for recruiting new and managing existing volunteers, and be responsible for developing a systematic approach to fundraising. They will also have the ability to juggle competing priorities, use their judgment to make decisions, prioritise and delegate, and bring their own vision whilst remaining receptive to listening to those around them.

Remember My Baby would like this post to be the first of many.

Offering a full executive search process which is normally out of the reach of small and medium-sized organisations, the campaign resulted in the appointment of an experienced charity CEO, Liz Thorne.

Liz brings over 20 years of senior management experience working in the public, private and voluntary sectors culminating in her most recent role as Business Manager at the Heath Farm School,  an independent special educational needs school, having previously served as CEO with Age UK Faversham. She also currently serves as Chair of Find a Voice, a charity providing a range of programmes and resources for people of all ages with communication and/or learning difficulties.
